$850,000 FOR MELVILLE FORESHORE RESTORATION

The Albanese Government is investing $850,000 to rehabilitate Point Waylen’s foreshore with native vegetation and build connections with the local community.

It will be used to replant trees and native vegetation along the edge of the Swan River within the Melville Bird Sanctuary in Western Australia, which is home to more than 131 species of birds, including the critically endangered and internationally protected Eastern Curlew.

The project will be led by the City of Melville in partnership with the Western Australian Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and will also include a community meeting space, new signage and education programs.

Work will begin by mid-2026 and is expected to finish in late 2027.

The funding is part of the Albanese Government’s Local Environmental Projects program that is protecting and improving our environment and heritage.
